Time to melt your brains

'Where the Light Is' has been brought to Blu-ray in a 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode at 1.78:1. The concert and interview footage were captured entirely with Super 35 film and received a 4K Scan and Digital Intermediate from Technicolor in Los Angeles.
Dan and i were watching this and decided to look up the specs... lol.

Super Duper Double Done Top 10 Movie List
So not wanting to feel left out I will through in 10 movies that have effected the way I look at film, and one extra that was AWESOME…And here we GO!!!!
Avatar- WOW. James Cameron is awesome. I saw avatar will JQ at midnight opening night in IMAX and when I walked out of the theater JQ asked me what I thought and I literately couldn’t speak. The shear epicness of this movie just blows me away. The story was simple but the visuals and the amount of detail that went into everything was mind blowing.
Inglorious Bastards- I was like Tarantino fan but this movie really defines why I like him so much. The writing, acting, Christopher Waltz, WTF. Even though John and I were nearly stabbed by a drunken idiot sitting behind us, it was still awesome.
Gladiator- Oh yes Gladiator. We all have that one movie growing up that made us want to make movie and know that it was truly was what we wanted to spend the rest of our life’s doing. Dan’s was Dragonheart, Johns was Children of Men, mine was Gladiator. Just loved everything about it.
Blood Diamond- Loved it!!!! I love movie that not only have a good story and acting, character development…but teach us a lesson and enlighten us to a subject that maybe we’re al not aware off. To be honest this movie is a lot like the way I dream off seeing The Cost; A movie that is not only entertaining but teaches a lesson.
Slumdog Millionaire- I can remember the day that John forced me to go see Slumdog Millionaire. I think this movie affected me the way Gladiator did. There isn’t one thing about it that I would change or didn’t like. It was perfect in everyway, and I believe it deserved the academy award even though Benjamin Button was good. Like Blood Diamond I found it interesting to see the culture of India and their way of life. Spectacular Movie.
Forest Gump- Im pretty sure there isn’t a soul on planet earth that doesn’t like Forest Gump. And if there is someone they should find a new planet cause there’s something wrong with you…jk. But seriously once again a movie that balanced all the key ingredients that go into making a good film.
Memento- This movie really opened my eyes to the power of editing and what you can do with it. And how it can change a movie. Christopher Nolan is AWESOME. (and on a side not the new Inception trailer was amazing.)
Jaws- I fucking hate sharks, but I love this movie. Pretty sure I can thank Steven for my fear. But this movie struck a new age in film the age of the Blockbuster and without what this film did for the industry, movies today wouldn’t be what they are now.
Man on Fire- Had to mention this film and give Tony Scott and Paul Cameron credit. What an a great film. I remember when Dan got his PS3, we watched it on Blue Ray, which was my first experience with the ray, and it was awesome. I think the Color Reversal Bleach bypass…or was it cross-processed… idk john would know… anyways the way the film looked just sucked me right into. Not to mention the great story and acting.
In the Name of the Father- I have to agree with Dan on this one. I remember being in Tapia’s class and him being like “ we’re going to watch a movie today” and we we’re all like FUCK… cause he just showed us that In the Bedroom movie, boring, and that Behind the Sun movie, which was ok. But this movie made up for all that. Daniel Day Lewis was outstanding in this film, as he usually is.
Well that’s 10 that come to mind. All the movies mentioned but everyone are excellent and im glad me did this cause there a few I haven’t seen that I need to rent. This Christmas my mom rented Joyeux Noel, not sure if anyone has heard of it but it’s a foreign movie that premiered at Cannes. Its about a ceasefire between that Germans, Scottish, and French during WW1, and stars Diane Kruger and Daniel Brühl from Inglorious Bastards. I know its not Christmas anymore but if you get the chance to see it, its very good.

Schindler's List - I have to start with one of Steven's films and what a film this was AMAZING
Star Wars !! I really don't care if its 1, 2, 3 or 4, 5, 6 or whatever... sure the originals are the best but COME ON its Frickin STAR WARS these films will be engraved in my soul for eternity!!
BOND 21 & 22 - You guys all know how much I love these films. I know they both just came out in the last couple years but I feel like they have been with me forever I LOVE THE CAMERA WORK
The Fall - WHY!!
WALL E - ok heres my Pixar movie...
Forrest Gump - Well for some reason I cant NOT think of Carl (love you buddy) ...I really cant say just how prefect this film is for me it goes into so much depth but in the end its such a simple loving story.
Blood Diamond - Wow did you know they used a Leica M6 in this movie...this movie for me has always been I movie I would watch no matter what...amazing film.
Professional - I think this film will always be near the top of my list. I had such an interest in seeing this film when I was young because my Dad would watch it all the time. Of course I was to young and never could see it so one night I watched it and.... I did not like it at all But over time I grew to love it and now coming out of film school I love it even more the camera work, lighting, story, all are amazing.
Good Will Hunting - Matt Damon and Ben Affleck cant write....O WAIT YES THEY CAN! I love this movie mainly because of the amazing story line.
AVATAR - I just got done watching this film again in IMAX 3 DOUSE...I LOVE BLUE PEOPLE
K-Pax - Absolutely love this film! plus have you listened to the score SWEET!
Snatch - Why the hell is this movie so GOOD I love that Guy Richice guy he is so good at puzzle film making (i think he has his own genre) "I LIKE DIGES"

Carl's bad ass mofucking list of movies mofucka's
A lot has happened on the blog since the last time I have been on here. It appears as if I now need to create a list of my favorite movies of all time, and so it begins. ( In no order of course)
The Crow- I remember the first time I saw this movie. It came on HBO around 3 in the morning and I started watching it and just couldn't stop. I was still pretty young at this point, but I remember thinking that it looked really shitty but for some reason I just couldn't stop watching it. I'm still not sure why I love this movie but for some reason I do.
Se7en- This was a movie that I had never heard anything about, and I picked it up after watching Fight Club because of the badass Fincher Pitt combo. I was hook line and sinker after the opening credits.
The Shining- There is just something about Stanley Kubrick that you either love or hate. For me, it's usually love. Any many that spends two days and 30+ cans of film on one shot is alright by me as long as I'm not the AD.
From Russia with Love- This movie brings back a lot of memories. My grandma introduced me to this movie when I was about 7. Probably explains why I am slightly different. This is still my favorite Bond movie. This movie really did the job of defining Bond for who he is.
Almost Famous- God I love this movie. I've always enjoyed Cameron Crowe movies, but this is by far my favorite. The characters really sucked me and never let me go. The music drives the movie from start to finish. The underlining theme of follow your dream really kind of suits all our personalities.
American History X- This movie really taught me to appreciate character pieces. The black and white really kind of draws me in and was a perfect fit for this film. Ed Norton owns this movie. (Literally)
Terminator 2- What is really left to say about this movie that John didn't already cover? JAMES CAMERON IS A MAN.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid- This movie has always had a special place in my heart. My dad has always loved westerns, and I'm not sure where this ranks on his list of movies, but it's deff my fav western. The end kind of blows you and every one else away.
Jaws- Something struck me as horrifying the first time I saw this. I think it's because my sister made me watch it before I went on vacation in FL. This movie really taught me that scary movies don't have to suck.
Vertigo- I've always loved Hitchcock movies, but this one more than others. The stairwell shot is half the reason I went to film school. It still amazes me that he could pull that off with the general lack of technology he had.
Blade Runner- Sir Ridley Scott introduced me to sci-fi kind of with this movie. I mean I had seen them before, but this one really made realize once again that not all sci-fi movies have to suck. O Harrison Ford.

Chads movie list
My movie list probably won't be quite as epic as John and Dan's, I sort of got into film appreciation late in the game. I didn't really even consider myself much of a "movie person" until I came to school, and you guys opened my world to all the wonderous joys known as cinema.
My list, just like dan and johns is based upon movies that changed something inside of me. There are movies that i really enjoy ans could probably watch everyday, but i only put them on the list if they really are special to me. All the movies on my list opened a new door of creativity in my mind. These movies may not have been the first piece of cinema to accomplish something new, but each represents a moment of creative revelation in my soul. How epic is that!?
Signs: Signs was one of the first movies I can remember being more than a spectator. It's not M. Nights best work, but pieces of this movie really spoke to me as an artist. His use of music was a big thing. He used such great restraint when choosing how the music should go, especially when deciding that no music can sometimes be more powerful than a big noisey score.
The Breakfast Club: god bless the 80's. This movie is a classic (in my opinion at least). This movie showed me a couple things; movies don't need explosions to be good, if the story and characters are good enough you really can place an entire movie in one room, and it really introduced me to the idea that movies can sometimes only be about the characters and how they grow, this movie actually helped me realize that those are the types of movies I appreciate most.
Man on Fire: Oh man, I love this movie. I love everything about it. The music, the acting, the cinematography, and most of all the editing. I saw this movie shortly after I got into the craft of editing. When I saw this movie, my mind exploded. All of the jump cutting and overlaying in the movie wasn't all that new to me, but I had never seem anyone do it in a big movie and with such gusto. They didn't just make a few sections stylized, they packed the movie full of stylizied editing. I and no idea that you were allowed to do that in a movie, I was very excited.
Requiem for a Dream: requiem, like man on fire, captured my heart because of the editing, it was another example of my mind being exposed to feature film editing that is super stylized and creative.
Momento: in short- the only rule is that there are no rules, art is art, express what is inside you anyway you know how.
Miniority report: I'm not a huge sci-Fi fan, but when I saw this movie I was blown away. When I saw the movie I couldn't help but think, if I were to create a science fiction movie this is exactly how I would want it to look and feel.
Cloverfield: by far the most fun I've ever had in a movie theatre. It's not the greatest piece of filmmaking ever concieved, but I've never experienced a build up and delivery quite like this movie. I remember feeling like I was literrally on a thrill ride during the movie. It helped me to realize that the movie goer really should be entertained and treated with respect.
The great escape: i'm not sure exactly what I love about this movie. I know the music is a big part of it, but I think the main reason is I would always watch it with my dad, and it reminds me that movies can be used as a medium to connect people and create memories. Sometimes who you watch a movie with is just as important as the movie itself.
